Jak podały służby prasowe Międzynarodowego Związku Telekomunikacyjnego (ITU) z dniem 10 września 2007 r. Rada ITU zapewniła bezpłatny dostęp do Zaleceń Sektora Telekomunikacyjnego (ITU-T) online. Jest to w historii Związku decyzja przełomowa. Do tej pory Zwiazek nie chciał rezygnować ze sprzedawania swoich dokumentów, pomimo nacisków płynących od dawna z różnych stron oraz przykładów innych organizacji normalizacyjnych (np. ETSI). Można liczyć, że również Zalecenia Sektora Radiokomunikacyjnego (ITU-R) zostaną udostepnione szerokiej rzeszy użytkowników.
